Prevalence and factors associated with health services utilization of Sindhupalchowk district. - c2018. - ix,28p.

ABSTRACT: In Nepal, some people prefer to visit traditional health services whereas some prefer modern health services for the treatment of their illness. With the objective to find the first preference of health services of the people for the treatment of their illness and factors affecting their preference; this descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among two hundred sixty-study population of Maneswora Ward, Sindhupalchowk district. Face-to-face interview was done to collect the data through semi-structured questionnaire and systematic random sampling was done. One-third (36.9%) of the respondents were found to be visiting the traditional health services and more than half (63.1%) of the respondents visited modern health services. Education, duration of stay, type of disease, distance to the health services, modes of transportation, affordability, waiting time and availability of health care provider demonstrated association with utilization of health services at 95% level of confidence (p >0.05). Results of this study can be helpful for assessment of the effectiveness and constrains of the health related programs and necessary steps for the improvement.
