520 _aABSTRACT: Hearing impairedness means complete loss of the ability to hear from one or both ears, 81 dB or greater hearing threshold. Hearing loss may result from genetic causes, complications at birth, certain infectious diseases, chronic ear infections, the use of particular drugs, exposure to excessive noise, and ageing. Around 466 million people worldwide have disabling hearing loss, and 34 million of these are children. 1.1 billion young people (aged between 12-35 years) are at risk of hearing loss due to exposure to noise in recreational settings. Nepal states two percent (1.94%; 513,321) of the total population of Nepal reported having "some kind of disability". The hearing impaired percentage is 24.5% and 15.45% according to census 2001 and 2011 simultaneously in Nepal. The main objective of studying on deaf students of Kathmandu valley is to assess knowledge and practice on Family planning. Besides, to find out the result on the use of Emergency Contraceptive Pills by married or unmarried hearing-impaired students is the major concerned of this study. The study will be conducted in Central Secondary School, Naxal of Kathmandu. It is hearing impaired organization and was funded under the Special Education Council as a branch of Ministry of Education. Only the students of eleven and twelve are taken in this research. The overall knowledge and practice of hearing impaired students on family planning was collected with complete enumeration. The study concluded that 100% hearing impaired students were aware about family planning. According to the study, 66.7% students get knowledge on family planning from schools so this indicates that rest of the students get knowledge from other media. Thus, we can conclude that the more education on this topic should be given to the students. This also indicated that the impact on family planning is quite impressive in increasing the knowledge and practice on contraceptive devices. The parents should be more concern and should give them proper information about Family Planning devices. The health ministry also must make special concerned efforts to remove obstacles and barriers and must promote information to hearing impaired students on family planning.
