| 520 | _aABSTRACT: Background: The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is now a major public health emergency in the world. Nurses as key members of the COVID-19 patient care team are exposed to most challenges caused by the disease. As exploring the experiences of nurses as patient supporters and caregivers can play an important role in improving the quality of care for patients with COVID19 disease, the present study explored the experiences of nurses caring for patients with COVID19. Methods: The study employed a qualitative design with Hermeneutic phenomenological approach. This study employed purposive and snowball sampling method to select 12 nurses taking care of patients with COVID-19 in ICUs or inpatient wards in Nepal Police Hospital, Nepal. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The data was analyzed thematically with the support of MaXqDA SOFTWARE. Results: Nurses perceives COVID-19 as life threatening disease leading to professional dissatisfaction. During the pandemic, Nurses experienced various physical and mental challenges, lack of support, supervision, poor management of resources in organizational level challenges, initial hour community challenges, illogical restrictions from the government with ineffective strategies. However, nurses learned to prepare for any disaster, healthcare improvement and gives suggestion for centralized decisions. Conclusion: Exploring the lived experience Nurses during pandemic provides a unique lens through which to view nursing during a global pandemic, and it serves as a starting point to ensure future safeguards are in place to protect nurses’ well-being. | ||
