الملخص: | ABSTRACT: 32 Patients of the age more than 14 years, undergoing closed mitral valvotomy for mitral stenosis from January 1996 to July 1997 over a period of 18 months were included in the study. Aschoff nodule was found in the left auricular biopsy of 5 patients (16.60%). However, prevalence of all sorts of inflammation was 60%. Active rheumatic carditis was significantly associated with haemoglobin of less than a year's duration might reflect active rheumatic carditis independently. Age and sex of the patient, duration of penicillin injection, ESR level, PR interval and mitral valve area does not correlate with active rheumatic carditis. |
