Mentorship is the cornerstone of professional development and career satisfaction. Medical schools can be monitored with respect to the provision of mentorships as quality characteristic. So, our aim is to know the prevalence and the impact of this program in medical schools of Nepal and the need of this program in medical schools all over Nepal. Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study done using a verified google-form questionnaire. Ethical approval from the National Health Research Council (NHRC) was sought and received (Ref.667). The cumulative data obtained nationwide was entered in computerized spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel) and analyzed using MS excel and SPSS to obtain results that correlated with the objectives set as a part our research question. Results: altogether 258 medical students(MS) with the following affiliation responded to our study: Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS) 131 (50.8%), Tribhuvan University(TU) 89(34.5%), Kathmandu University(KU) 35(13.6%), BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences(BPKIHS) 3(1.2%). Out of a total of 110(42.6%) had mentorship program in their medical schools, 77(29.8%) denied the existence of mentorship program in their medical schools while 71(27.5%) did not know about the mentorship program. The study finds a positive impact of the program on building rapport with faculties (61.82%), developing professionals skills (81.82%), learning evidence-based medicine (74.55%), support during exam preparation (57.27%), motivation for studies (84.55%), clearing doubts(86.36%), provide study materials (43.64%), future career choices (30.91%), dealing with a personal problem (46.36%). Among all participants, 98.8% soughed for the need of this program in their medical schools. Conclusion: The prevalence of mentorship program among medical college in Nepal is very low. Individuals embedded in the mentor-mentee relationship have reported a significantly positive impact not only on academics but also on their personal and social enterprises Medical students throughout the nation that are familiar with the concept of this program reported that its need is very high.
