Most emotional and behavioral problem begin before age 14, though they are often first detected later in life. Detecting these disorders and individual prone to these disorders at earlier ages can facilitate better treatment. With this in mind the present study was planned to find out the prevalence of emotional and behavioral problem among school going adolescent in Morang district. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was carried out among school going adolescents of Morang district, Nepal. The cluster random sampling was used to select the participants. Data was collected from 407 eligible participants using self reported version of strengths and difficulty questionnaire. Chi-square and binary logistic regression analysis were applied for assessing association between dependent and independent variables. Results: In this study 14.5% had emotional and behavioral problems with 16.7% at borderline. Conduct problem was the most prevalent (16.5%), followed by emotional problem (14.3%) peer relationship (10.8%), hyperactivity (6.6%) and pro-social problem (5.4%). Variables such as gender, ethnicity types of school, parental education was found to be significantly associated (p= <0.05) in bivariate analysis and in multivariate analysis gender (AOR 2.132, p=0.001) was found to be strong predictors of emotional and behavioral problem among school going adolescents. Conclusion: Emotional and behavioral problems among adolescents were in alarming situation. Comprehensive effort from government school and parents need to be initiated to reduce the problems.
