Summary: | ABSTRACT: The aim of the study was to assess the levels of depression and anxiety in paralysis patients. A descriptive cross sectional study design was used. Paralysis patients without primary care and patients suffering from other concomitant illnesses were excluded from the study. Depression and anxiety was assessed on 64 paralysis patients from selected hospitals. The tools used were Structured Performa (for recording socio-demographic details and relevant medical history), and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). The mean level of depression and anxiety in paralysis patients were 11.5000 and 11.4531 with the standard deviation of 1.87718 and 1.83381 respectively as per HADS. Moderate level of anxiety and depression exists among average paralysis patients. Key words: Depression, Anxiety, Paralysis, HADS. |
