520 |a ABSTRACT: The study entitled "Impact of Educational Intervention on the Awareness Regarding Breast Cancer Among Service Holder Women" was conducted to assess the effectiveness of the educational intervention in increasing awareness on breast cancer. This study by using pre-test post one group design was carried out in Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) and Nursing Campus, Maharajgunj (NCM). The population of the study was the administrative female staff (non-health) of relevant institutions. A non probability purposive sampling technique was used to collect the data from 51 administrative staff. The self-administered structured questionnaire was used to collect data. The prepared educational package was used for educational intervention. Post test was done with the same preliminary questionnaire 7 to 10 days after educational intervention in both setting. The data were analysed by using descriptive statistics such percentage, mean, standard deviation and inferential statistics such as paired 't' test. The mean awareness on breast cancer: risk factor, warning symptoms, measures of early detection, preventive measure and treatment available in Nepal for breast cancer was 17.31 with standard deviation 5.894 in the pre-test. Similarly, the mean of above mentioned item was 33.88 with standard deviation 1.796 in the post test. Hypothesis was tested to measure the change in awareness as a whole on breast cancer among working women between pre-test and post test. p value was found 0.00(<0.05) which reveals rejection of null hypothesis. Based on the study findings, it is recommended that educational intervention can be effective in increasing the knowledge of women on awareness regarding breast cancer. Therefore, it is recommended that awareness raising programme should be included in national health programme to create awareness regarding early detection and prevention of breast cancer.
