ABSTRACT: I conducted a blinded study for the thesis work on"Oral ketamine premedication for Anaestheisa in children" at Kanti Children Hospital in one to six year old child with ASA physical status I and II. Objective of study was to see the effect of oral ketamine premedication on separating children from the parents. Group "A" (control) and Group "B" (study) were selected randomly and given premedication solution "A" and "B" respectively. After 30 minutes, effects were recorded according to scoring system and any complication during induction, operation and post operative periods were recorded. It is found that premedication solution "B" containing 12.5 mg per ml of ketamine produce the significant effect (P<0.001) in the dose of 5 mg per kg body weight within 30-60 minutes of premedication on separation of children from the parents without any side effect.
