Summary, etc. ABSTRACT: The descriptive study entitled 'Adjustment related to Pubertal Changes among Adolescent girls' was carried out in government Higher Secondary School of Nuwakot district. The objective of this study was to identify the adjustment to the pubertal changes among adolescent girls. The population of the study was 84 adolescent girls between 13 and 19 years from grade nine and ten. Census technique was used for data collection. The semi-structured self administered research tool was used to obtain the data which was analyzed by using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The study findings revealed that the mean age of the respondents was 15.45 years ( SD 1.23). The respondents had experienced breast development, growth spurt, pubic hair growth, axillary hair growth, acne and menarche at a mean age of 11.8 years (SD 1.3), 13.0 years (SD 1.2), 12.2 years (SD 1.1) , 13.3 years (SD 1.8), 14.07 years (SD 1.3) and 13.6 years (SD 1.1) respectively. Regarding the respondents' source of information for their pubertal changes, majority 41.9% got information from their school curriculum. During menarche, majorities 50.6% of respondents were very fearful, 67.9% did not worship god and 71.4% shared with their mother. Regarding the problems related to physical and emotional change they prefer to share with friends. Regarding the adjustment to the development of breast, maximum respondents (63.1%) wore tight clothes inside and loose clothes from outside to hide their increasing breast; For the increase in weight, maximum respondents (47%) did dieting and 44.6% did rigorous exercise to lose weight: Regarding the adjustment to emotional changes during puberty, 61.3% respondents sat alone and thought what is happening to them. In conclusion, regular provision of educational sessions about pubertal changes should be initiated for young females in order to prepare them physically and mentally and to encourage them to communicate with their support systems. The adolescent girls need counseling service at home and school regarding pubertal changes during adolescent period for its successful adjustment.
