Summary, etc. ABSTRACT:<br/><br/>Household solid waste is cumbersome to handle as it is made up of a wide range of composite materials. Inadequate and improper disposal of waste may cause environmental and aesthetic damage, depletion of natural and economic resources and negative impacts on human health. Household solid waste management is a major public health concern in the community and closely related to daily human life. Community people can play a fundamental role in managing household solid waste, which incorporates a diverse range of activities including reduction, recycling, segregation, modification, treatment and disposal of waste. Awareness about solid waste management brings the positive attitude and good practice in day-to-day life. <br/>The main objective of study was to find out the awareness regarding household solid waste management among community people. A descriptive cross sectional research design was adopted and non-probability purposive sampling technique was used to select the sample. Total sample size was 100. Data collected through face-to-face interview by using structured questionnaire. <br/>Findings of the study showed that all most all (97%) of the respondents had adequate level of awareness and least number (3%) had moderate level of awareness regarding household solid waste management. More than one third (38%) of respondents identified that burning is appropriate mechanism for household solid waste management. This study showed no significant association between level of awareness and selected variables. Based on findings, long-term awareness-raising program should be organized to increase awareness of the community people about the impacts of burning of waste in health and environment. <br/><br/>Key words: Awareness, Community People, Household Solid Waste Management, Solid waste
