Summary, etc. SUMMARY:

Introduction: Stereopsis is defined as the ability to perceive object depth. It is measured in seconds of arc. Reduced stereoacuity impinges one's academic as well as professional performance. Hence in this study, we attempted to assess stereopsis among the medical student using the titmus fly test.

Methods: This is a descriptive cross sectional study conducted among undergraduate medical students at Institute of Medicine. Titmus fly test was used to assess the sterepsis.

Results: A total of 80 participants in our study among which 62.5% (50) were male and 37.5% (30) were female. The mean stereoacuity was 62.63±86.562 (range 40 - 800) sec of arc. 51.2% (41) of the study participant had normal stereopsis while only 5% (4) had reduced stereopsis (≥120 sec of arc).

Conclusions: Routine screening of stereo acuity levels in medical students should be done. A future study could be conducted by utilizing a specific period of time of digital technology that can be continuously maintained in order to measure pre- and post-stereopsis.
