The study found 84% of the respondents know about the vaccine while 87% of them know why vaccine is given. Regarding the name of the vaccines, more than fifty percent of the respondents (66%) had heard about BCG and 69% had heard about Measles while only 41% had heard about DPT and very low 21% had heard about Hepatitis B vaccine. Almost all 97% had heard about Polio vaccine. The study reveled, 67% of the respondents overall good knowledge on the vaccination while 33% had poor knowledge. The most commonly reported source of information about vaccination were FCHVs and the health worker (79%) over a half of the respondents also mentioned TV, radio 58% and 68% mentioned friends, only 5% , from newspapers/magazines, 20% from pamphlet and posters, 54% and 5% from other sources. Among all the respondents 96% of the respondents said they had no any obstacles immunizing the child from the family and others, also among all the respondents 90% don't get afraid of immunizing their children. It was found that almost all the respondents (97%) had Immunization card. Similarly devastating majorities of the respondents 89% were aware of the vaccination services. Regarding the importance of the time of the vaccination 95% were aware that it is most important, and also 95% of the respondent said it is necessary to complete all the vaccine and 93% of the respondents were aware saying it is necessary to complete all the vaccine to all the children. So far the matter concern with the level of awareness 80% of the respondents had high awareness on vaccination while 20% had low level of awareness. In regards to the knowledge and the awareness with the P-value = 0.000. The odds ratio from the study was found 10.2 for the level of knowledge (poor knowledge/low knowledge) at 95% with CI (4.1-25.2), the relative risk for low awareness was 6 at 95% with CI (0.4-0.7) Thus it was concluded that through most of the respondents were illiterate and had not enough knowledge on EPI vaccination they found to be highly aware regarding vaccination services and immunizing their children as most of them know, not immunizing the child may have fatal consequences. INGOs/NGOs and FCHs were found to be the main source of information and making them aware Intensive health education program should be undertaken to make the mothers aware on the importance of vaccination. Coverage of mass media focusing on health, immunization leaflets, Pamphlets in an easy way so that even illiterate can understand. Proper training to FCHVs who conduct the mother's meeting and adequate counseling on vaccination during that period. Develop appropriate IEC materials for use during education campaigns regarding Immunization. Government should ensure in policy and practice specific planning and programs on immunization.
