Nepal Health Research Council

The Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC)i s an autonomous body responsible for promoting and coordinating health research in Nepal working under Ministry of Health and Population. It was established in 1991 under the Nepal Health Research Council Act, the NHRC works to improve the nation's health status through high-quality scientific research while upholding ethical standards.

It was originally formed as the Nepal Health Research Committee under the Ministry of Health in 1982, the NHRC now collaborates with government agencies, non-government organizations, and the private sector to provide guidance on health research and policy matters. It identifies and prioritizes national health issues for research, ensuring technical and ethical standards are maintained.

The NHRC also makes guidelines for the doctors and hospitals. Additionally, it serves as the country’s regulatory body for the ethical review of research proposals from various institutions and authorities.
